Paid Position - Mobile Support Project Lead

JOB TYPE: Part-time 0.4 FTE (15.2 hours per week) at Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award Level 2 ($68,334 pro-rata + super per year, $34.58 per hour) 


LOCATION: Work from Perron Place, Victoria Park / Whadjuk Noongar Country (required on Mondays) and work from home (as needed and on a flexible schedule) 


DEVICE REQUIREMENTS: Bring your own device (BYOD) or work device provided options available. 


SUPERVISOR: Program Coordinator 


DIRECT REPORTS: None. 


OVERVIEW: 

Since its inception in 2019, over 870 children and young people have been supported by the HI MSP. Access to a mobile phone improves a child’s ability to meet court order requirements, along with allowing connection to supports like legal services, counselling, crisis accommodation or food relief. The MSP handles over 400 mobile phones every year from various sources including private donations, local council recycling centres, corporate mobile fleets and large e-waste providers. This role supports HI to deliver the day-to-day activities needed to keep the MSP running smoothly.


MAIN DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Providing and handling MSP phone services (e.g. recharging current phone services with mobile credit) 

  • Handling basic service questions from referrers and providing light technical support 

  • Set up of devices and preparing referrals for shipping / distribution (this must be done on-site at the HI office) 

  • Deliver referrals to the Perth Children’s Court and postage of referrals to regional WA 

  • Keeping HI’s client database up to date with referral details and most recent activity on each client file 

  • Handling and purchasing of all MSP-related referral supplies (e.g. shipping packages, phone chargers and cables) 

  • Monitoring device stock levels and reporting to HI leadership on stock needs 

  • Getting in touch with referring staff for outcome updates and end-of-referral outcome reporting 

  • Other tasks as guided 


SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: 

Qualifications: 

  • No specific qualifications required 

  • Qualifications or ongoing study relevant to the role will be viewed positively 

Required Screenings and Clearances: 

  • A valid Working with Children Check (HI will pay for this check) 

  • A background check from the WA Department of Justice (there is no cost for this background check). 

  • A National Police Clearance (HI will pay for this check). 

    • Please note that although a National Police Clearance is required, having a criminal record will not automatically exclude you from success in this position. HI encourages all interested applicants to apply, including those with lived experience of the criminal legal system.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

  • High levels of cultural sensitivity 

  • Ability to work autonomously 

  • Ability to problem solve

  • Ability to travel between HI offices and required delivery locations 

  • Excellent time management skills 


Desirable Skills: 

  • Basic mobile phone technical skills will be viewed positively 

    • E.g. Diagnosing, repairing and preparing for delivery 

  • Experience in using G-Suite (Gmail and Google Drive) will be viewed positively.
